Subsequently Simon established a studio at the ‘old’ JamFactory premises on Payneham Road in Adelaide – a positive hotbed for contemporary craft practice at the time. Simon then moved his studio practice to Mount Barker and later opened his first retail premises in Aldgate, gradually establishing a fine reputation while constantly pushing the artistic boundaries of his chosen materials. Simon has continued to pass on his considerable knowledge of materials and craftsmanship to other makers, lecturing in jewellery making at various tertiary institutions and mentoring a number of emerging designer/makers as his own practice has developed to its present high standards. *************** Industry positions Simon Sturt-Bray has held include
